Where to begin...

Hey, welcome!

This article has been a long time coming… At the time of writing this, the doors to West Coast Barbell Club have been open for 20 months - What began as a single power rack in a 30sqm communal warehouse space has gone on to double in size and quadruple in members.

Head Coach Ben built the space himself with help from some close friends - That sense of community is integral to our environment at WCBC.

From the outset, our mantra has been to help people get stronger and healthier - We do this by taking an evidence led approach to guiding physical activity and lifestyle modification. To our knowledge, we are the only club of this nature in Western Australia. In quickly establishing our niche we have had an incredibly positive impact on our community; from substantial body composition improvements to strength gainzzz.

2020 is going to be a big year for our development as a club, coaching team and as individual lifters. We have big aspirations for our future and we want to ensure we routinely communicate our long term vision with you, our valued followers and members.

Words can’t adequately express how much we appreciate your commitment to our club and we hope to continually reward that commitment with consistent upgrades to our training facility as well as the endless education of our coaching staff - The quality of our knowledge base with regard to coaching and programming is paramount to us, which is reflected in the results our crew have achieved.

Unlike many other gyms, helping people make tangible progress in terms of their strength and health is our number 1 priority, everything else will always be secondary to that aim. Yes, we always hope to provide a well equipped and socially engaging environment in which to train, but at the end of the day we see our role as coaches very clearly - Results come first!

Over time we will aim to publish articles covering everything from future plans for the gym, to the latest scientific research pertinent to strength and health. We hope you’ll read along with us as our content grows.

We hope to provide you with a source of knowledge to expand your own understanding of all things training related, while also improving your own capacity to have a positive influence on your wider social circle.

Imagine being the go to person amongst your friends and family when it comes to exercise and nutrition - Just think about the incredible impact your broadened knowledge can have on their long term health! This resource here will hopefully give you that ability via content that is scientifically accurate while also being readily understandable for every reader.

Please enjoy, and if you have any questions or thoughts based on the articles you read, please comment! The more we interact, the more we can all learn from each other. Thank you!
